Author: Michael Sekol

Michael Sekol is a multifaceted professional with a rich background in technology, education, and business leadership. Currently serving as a Software Development Instructor at Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, Michael inspires the next generation of technologists by teaching coding, app development, web design, database management, and Agile methodologies. Since 2017, he has prepared high school juniors and seniors for entry-level programming and computer science careers through an engaging and industry-aligned curriculum. His students regularly participate in Business Professionals of America (BPA) competitions, earning state and national recognition. Michael's career journey reflects his passion for innovation and excellence. His technical expertise began when he built servers and websites as the President & COO of Adelphia Financial Inc., where he led multi-state operations, implemented efficiency metrics, and exceeded production goals. This entrepreneurial foundation led to roles in higher education, where he taught web development, project management, and business strategies at institutions like ITT Technical Institute. He combines his extensive leadership experience with a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt to optimize processes and empower people. Michael's entrepreneurial spirit thrives through ventures like The Sekol Consultant Agency, where he provides digital marketing, web development, and SaaS solutions. He also founded Team Workforce, a nonprofit that bridges the gap between credential training and employment, offering pathways to apprenticeships and careers. His dedication to education extends to the community, where he teaches coding camps and organizes events like the "Hack the Valley" hackathon to spark creativity and collaboration. A lifelong learner, Michael is pursuing a Master’s in Educational Technology with a Computer Science Endorsement at Kent State University. His research focuses on integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) to create personalized, dynamic learning environments. This aligns with his vision for the $15 million expansion of MCCTC’s lab facilities, where he will lead AI instruction in a state-of-the-art educational space. Michael's philosophy centers on active learning, where students take the lead in solving problems and applying skills. As a former guest speaker, martial arts instructor, and board member for nonprofit initiatives, he brings a unique blend of technical, managerial, and interpersonal skills to every endeavor. Whether mentoring students, developing innovative curricula, or optimizing business processes, Michael Sekol is a dynamic leader dedicated to excellence and innovation.
